“So, the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.” - Exodus 33:11

Moses had a special place where he met with God It was called “the tabernacle of meeting” (v. 7). What did they talk about? “Then Moses said to the Lord, “See, You say to me, “Bring up this people.” But You have not let me know whom You will send with me…Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight…”And He said, ‘My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (vs 12-14). Take note of the three things Moses asked God about:

(1) “Let me know whom you will send with me.” Now that was wise because people either add to or take from you, build you up or tear you down. You need to know who belongs in your life and who does not. And God is the only One who can tell you that.

(2) “Show me now your way.” God's will, done God's way according to God's timetable always brings success. But your will, done your way, according to your timetable can bring you trouble and heartache.

(3) “That I may know You, and that I may find grace in Your sight.” Here the word “Grace” means divine enablement. By yourself you are not equal to the challenge, but through the power of God's indwelling Spirit, you can accomplish great things.

What God promised to Moses; He also promises to you. My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest. So, talk to God about it. He’s your friend too.

And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. Mark 10:47 KJV

Many have found themselves in situations today that are no fault of their own. We have a tendency to look at someone and their life situation and judge them. We may not have the knowledge of why someone’s life is the way it is, and we become the judge and jury of that person.

Here was blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, who sat by the highway side begging. There are many amongst us today who like Bartimaeus are begging by the wayside. There are those who are homeless. There are those with incurable diseases. What is our behavior towards those who we encounter on a daily basis?

When Bartimaeus heard Jesus was there, he began to cry out to Jesus. Those around said to Bartimaeus, that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal. Seeing Bartimaeus situation and knowing the miracles that Jesus did, one should have thought about getting Bartimaeus to Jesus, so he could be healed. Instead, they tried to silence him.

Bartimaeus did not allow the crowd to silence him. Scripture said, he cried out even more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. He was desperate and he knew there is one who can help him and that was Jesus. Bartimaeus was not going to let that moment pass him by. Jesus heard Bartimaeus cry. He did not ignore his cry. Jesus stopped and told the people to call Bartimaeus.

When Bartimaeus came to Jesus, He did not condemn him. He did not humiliate him. He simply asked him, what is your need? What can I do for you? Jesus showed love and compassion, and He healed him. As children of God, we should do the same. We may not be able to heal someone, but we can help meet their need. We can offer a plate of food. We can share a kind word of encouragement. We can pray for them, right there and then.

Would we be the hands and feet of Jesus, today? Will we be quick to judge or do like Jesus and extend mercy and compassion, to those we meet on our way?

I lie awake thinking of You, meditating on You through the night. Because You are my Helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings. Psalms 63:6-7

It is so important to develop a relationship with our heavenly Father. I love the fact that we can talk to Him anywhere and at any time. We do not need an appointment. He is so, so good to us. He has done so much for us and continues to do so much as any loving Father would.

When we commune with Him, it’s not always about asking for something. At times it is very satisfying just to reflect on or as the scripture says, think and meditate on Him. When you look back over your life you can see His deep love for you, how God came through for you, how He delivered you, how He provided for you, His protection over your life, you find yourself singing songs of gratitude to Him. As you lie awake and think of His great love for you, your heart becomes full, and you express your love back to Him in song. You may even burst forth in praise for the many battles you have won.

As you lie awake you meditate on His words to you. His words that say, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. His words that say, you are the apple of His eyes. His words that say, He will never leave you or forsake you. There are so many words He has spoken to us in the written word.

Take sometime today and think of Him, meditate on Him, reflect on who He is to you. I’m sure you will burst forth with a sacrifice of praise on your lips and your heart will rejoice.I lie awake thinking of You, meditating on You through the night. Because You are my Helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings. Psalms 63:6-7
