“When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools.” - Ecclesiastes 5:4 NLT

When you are seeking God’s will for your life, you need to understand one very important thing…God is not obligated to reveal Step 2 until you’ve done Step 1.

Maybe you keep saying, “I want to know God’s will for my career/marriage,” and God says, “Let’s get to the basics. Are you reading your Bible? Are you in a small group? Are you tithing? Are you talking with Me?”

He wants you to start doing what you already know to be the revealed will of God for your life before He tells you what else to do.

So, are there any things God has told you to do but you haven’t done them yet? Why is that the case? The truth is, you’re not waiting on God; He’s waiting on you.

Please don’t wait another week or another year to do what God has already told you to do.

What are you waiting for?

Ecclesiastes 5:4 says, “When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools”. Don’t delay. Do what you already know to do.

Pray this prayer today: Lord, I need Your guidance in my life. I ask in faith that You direct me. Help me to listen for Your response, to not get so busy that I can’t hear You. Father, when I don’t understand it, help me to trust You and understand that You have a path that is for my good. Father God, what’s my next step? Help me to do what I already know I should do. Help me to not get frustrated. Help me to not be fearful but to trust in You. In Yeshua’s Name, I pray. Amen.

“His heart is established; he will not be afraid.” Psalm 112:8 NKJV

To achieve success in life there are three obstacles you’ll have to be aware of and overcome:

(1) Weariness. It’s reputed that during the Kentucky Derby the winning horse runs out of oxygen after the first half-mile and runs the rest of the way on “heart.” So, look into your heart today and see if you are truly committed. “Do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise” (Heb 10:35-36 NKJV).

(2) Fear. When it comes to commitment, there are four kinds of people.

(a) Cop-outs: people who have no goals and who don’t commit.

(b) Hold-outs: people who don’t know if they can reach their goals so they’re afraid to commit.

(c) Drop-outs: people who start toward a goal but quit when the going gets tough.

(d) All-outs: people who set goals, commit to them and pay the price to reach them. Which one of the four are you? Fear and faith will always be present in your life, and the one you choose will determine whether you succeed or fail.

(3) Complacency: Successful businessman Ray Kroc said, “As long as you’re green, you’re growing. As soon as you’re ripe, you start to rot.” If you’re wise, you’ll take regular rest periods to refresh, renew, and refocus. But you must not settle for yesterday’s successes, or coast on today’s momentum.

Be like Paul: “I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race” (Php 3:13-14 NLT).

“Let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” – 2 Kings 2:9

Isn’t it amazing that God can move on our behalf, and in a moment of crisis, come through with just the right answer or provision for that hour? And then, isn’t it even more amazing when He does it again…and again…and again? But as amazing as this is, I find it even more amazing that when we go through the next major crisis we suffer from amnesia and immediately forget all the times He has come through for us. Satan is the great deceiver, and if he can create just enough doubt, then he can set up a stronghold that keeps us from the high place God has called us to.

And so it is with us. We can know that we know that God is calling us to the next place, the next step in our journey. Yet rather than remembering God’s legacy of faithfulness in our past, we choose to see our physical limitations and surface circumstances through human eyes using human logic. We turn back in discouragement, because we know that we know we are settling for less than God’s best.

Don’t settle for what God already has or did in someone else. Be like Elisha and ask for a “double” portion…with a made up mind to pay whatever that may cost.

My oh my, how easy it would be to settle right where you are, in the land of familiar rather than take the risk of getting out of that boat. The problem is you know that you know you have been called to get out of that boat.

You have a legacy…the DNA of tried and tested faith. And God is calling you to do even greater things than you did before, maybe in a different field, in a different way, or a different place, but you’re going higher not lower. You need to believe that as you go up, the strongholds are coming down in Jesus’ Name. Never trust your eyes in matters of faith. And rather than count the cost, instead remember and consider the many times God has come through…even when it seemed impossible.
