Yeshua said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life! No one comes to the Father except through Me. - John 14:6

Many are filled with uncertainty, searching, wondering what the future holds. What will happen when they die. Where will they go after death. Some people awake and just live day by day. Truth is we are all bound for somewhere. The question is where will that somewhere be?

God has promise us eternal life. There are those who are longing for and looking forward to being in the Father’s house. There are those who are uncertain of who to look to and what place to look forward to. In the end, there is a place of rest that has been prepared for those who believe and have put their trust in God. Yeshua said, In My Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?

How do we get to God the Father and the place that is prepared for us: Yeshua said, I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father but by Me. There is only one way to get to the Father, and that is through His Son, Yeshua. We are not left on our own to figure out the way to the Father. Yeshua is the only way to the Father.

Not only is He the Way, but He is the Truth. If He is the Truth, then we must be aware of what is false or untrue. There are many who believe that they can reach to the Father other ways, than through Yeshua, but any other way than through Yeshua leads to death, not life. There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death, (Proverbs 16:25).

Yeshua will lead us in Truth and righteousness. He is Life. In Him we live and move and have our being, (Acts 17:28). We have a hope, we have a future we can look forward to. After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back. Then I will take you with Me, so that you can be where I am, (John 14)

“Yeshua went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and His disciples followed Him.” - Luke 22:39

A quiet time with God doesn’t need to be complicated or elaborate. Taking care of a few details can help you be consistent and get the most out of your time with the Lord. One of those details is finding the right location for your quiet time.

The Bible indicates that Abraham had a regular place where he met with God: “Early the next morning Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the LORD” (Genesis 19:27).

Yeshua had a custom of praying in the garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives. “Yeshua went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and His disciples followed Him” (Luke 22:39).

You may not have a mountain or a garden where you can meet with God, but your place are to be relatively secluded. This is a place where you can be alone, where it’s quiet, and where you will not be disturbed or interrupted. In today’s noisy world, this may take some creativity, but it is necessary.

This should be a place where you can pray out loud without disturbing others. Make sure you have good lighting for reading. A place where you are comfortable…but not too comfortable. In other words, your bed is not the right choice for a quiet time!

Wherever you decide to meet with the Lord, make it a special place for you and Him. As the days go by, that place will come to mean a lot to you because of the wonderful times you have there with Yeshua.

In fact, your place will become a sacred place, because it’s where you meet with the living God. Where you meet the Lord can be just as holy as the place where Abraham met God. You don’t have to be in a church building. People have quiet times in their cars parked in a quiet place, in an empty closet at home, in their backyard, and even in a baseball dugout. Each of these places has become sacred to them.

Find a quiet place close to you, and start making it sacred by spending time there with God today.

“Then David got up from the ground, washed himself, put on lotions, and changed his clothes. He went to the Tabernacle and worshiped the Lord. After that, he returned to the palace and was served food and ate.” - 2 Samuel 12:20 (NLT)

Imagine you went into work one day at a job where you’ve dedicated 10 years of your life, and suddenly they tell you, “You’re fired. Sorry!”

You would be in shock! You would be paralyzed and wouldn’t be able to think what to do. That’s how most of us would react to an unexpected loss.

But even in the grief, shock, sorrow, sadness, and struggle of a loss, God wants to start you on a path of peace so that you can heal. The first step is surrender, and part of surrender is to do something productive.

Maybe it’s just a little step. And you only have to take one small step at a time!

The Bible describes King David’s step forward after his infant son had died: “Then David got up from the ground, washed himself, put on lotions, and changed his clothes. He went to the Tabernacle and worshiped the Lord. After that, he returned to the palace and was served food and ate” (2 Samuel 12:20 NLT).

Why did he go to the palace? He’s the king, and the palace is his place of productivity. The palace is where he works. He’s basically signaling that he’s going back to work.

Do you think that, one day after his baby died, David is over his grief? Of course not. You don’t ever get over grief; you get through it. David is still grieving, he’s still sad, and he was probably still overwhelmed. But he took one small step of returning home and nourishing his body.

When you have a major loss…someone just walked out of your life, something precious is taken from you, a dream has died, you get bad news from the doctor…you have to take a first step toward peace.

If you wait until you feel like taking that first step, then you’re not going to feel like it for a long, long time. You just have to move forward in faith.

You don’t have to stop mourning to start moving.
