Scripture of the Day

“Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” - Romans 8:33-34 KJV

Today's Devotional

Have you been mocked, falsely accused, persecuted, have all manner of evil spoken of you? Have you felt discouraged, overwhelmed, condemned, guilt, shame and feel like giving up? Hang in there! Hold on to God’s unchanging hand. Jesus faced these things also. Jesus healed the sick, opened the eyes of the blind, caused the dumb to speak, healed deaf ears, cast out evil spirits, fed multitudes and even raised the dead, yet they said He has a devil and is mad. They also said He cast out devils, by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

Scripture tells us, Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial, which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you. But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy – 1 Peter 4:12-13 KJV

The death of Christ on the cross was a finished work. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head and gave up the ghost. What Jesus was sent to do, was accomplished. He died for us so that we may have eternal life. Through His death we are reconciled with God. One would think that’s where it ended. No, Jesus is still at work for those of us who trust in Him.

One day as Jesus spoke with the disciples and knowing what was about to happen, He said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: Luke 22:31-32a KJV. Just like with Peter, Jesus is also praying for us. The scripture reference for today tells us that Jesus is at the right hand of God making intercession for us. He is still working on our behalf so that we can finish the race that is set before us. Hallelujah!!!

My brothers and sisters, be encourage, you are not alone. Not only is Jesus praying for us, but He said to the disciples, ‘And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you – John 14:16-18 KJV.
