Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the Lord. “In that case,” Eli said, “go in peace! May the God of Israel grant the request you have asked of him.” 1 Samuel 1:10, 17 NLT

Have you ever been in a situation where you have been in deep anguish and the only option you had was to fall to your knees and cry out to God? I believe we’ve all had these moments.
Even Yeshua had His moment of anguish. Then Yeshua went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, “Sit here while I go over there to pray.” He took Peter and Zebedee’s two sons, James and John, and he became anguished and distressed. He told them, “My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” Matthew 26:36-38 NLT
The Lord had shut up Hannah’ womb, and her adversary Peninnah provoked her sore and made her fret, that she cried and did not eat. So Peninnah would taunt Hannah and make fun of her because the Lord had kept her from having children. Year after year it was the same—Peninnah would taunt Hannah as they went to the Tabernacle. Each time, Hannah would be reduced to tears and would not even eat. 1 Samuel 1:6-7 NLT.
The constant taunts and provocation drove Hannah to her knees. Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the Lord - vs. 10. And if that was not bad enough, Hannah was accused of drunkenness by Eli, the priest because she prayed in silence and only her lips moved. “Oh no, sir!” she replied. “I haven’t been drinking wine or anything stronger. But I am very discouraged, and I was pouring out my heart to the Lord. Don’t think I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of great anguish and sorrow.” 1 Samuel 1:15-16 NLT.
Sometimes people will misunderstand you and judge you wrongfully. However, Eli’s response to Hannah did not deter her. Her mind was fixed on what she wanted from God. She had already made a vow to God with all her heart. After Hannah explained her situation to Eli, he said, “go in peace! May the God of Israel grant the request you have asked of him.” Eli in turn blessed her and we know that God granted her, her heart’s desire.
Don’t stop praying! There is still power in prayer! God still answers prayer! One day, you too will testify like Hannah!
