Love to One Another in Action

Writer's picture: powerministriesintlpowerministriesintl

A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:34-35 KJV

Continuation...

Yeshua said, all men will know that we are His disciples, if we have love one to another. What really is love according to Yeshua? The definition of love according to Yeshua is giving, giving of oneself, giving sacrificially.

This is how we’ve come to understand and experience love: Christ sacrificed his life for us. This is why we ought to live sacrificially for our fellow believers, and not just be out for ourselves. 1 John 3:14-17 MSG. We cannot say we have the love of God and see a brother or sister in need and do nothing about it. Love is action!

Yeshua demonstrated love to those whom He encountered. One such encounter was when a vast crowd brought to Him, people who were lame, blind, crippled, dumb and many other ailments. Yeshua performed many miracles. John 15:32 tells us that Jesus felt sorry for the people because they had been with Him for 3 days and had nothing to eat. He could not send them away hungry, or the people would faint along the way. Jesus then performed a miracle and the people were fed.

If Jesus fed a crowd of people who only came to Him to have their sick healed, how much more are we to care for our brothers and sisters of the household of faith? But if someone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but refuses to help—how can the love of God dwell in a person like that? 1 John 3:17 CEB. Little children, let us stop just saying we love people; let us really love them, and show it by our actions. Then we will know for sure, by our actions, that we are on God’s side, and our consciences will be clear, even when we stand before the Lord. 1 John 3:18-19 TLB.

There are many examples in God’s word of love one to another. And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything with each other, selling their possessions and dividing with those in need. They worshiped together regularly at the Temple each day, met in small groups in homes for Communion, and shared their meals with great joy and thankfulness, praising God. The whole city was favorable to them, and each day God added to them all who were being saved. Acts 2:44-47 TLB

Because of their demonstration of love one to another, others knew that they were disciples of Yeshua and each day God added to them those who were being saved. Demonstration of love one to another will lead men to repentance and draw them to God!
