And blessed are you, blessed are all of you, when people persecute you or denigrate you or despise you or tell lies about you on My account. Matthew 5:11 VOICE
When one think of the word blessed, many times it’s associated with what a person possesses, for example, material things. So, the question can be asked, if someone does not possess great earthly wealth or abundance in material things, does it mean they are not blessed?
In Matthew 5, we read the beatitudes and what or who Jesus considers as blessed. It goes against the culture, the norm of what or who we consider blessed. Blessed is when you are in God, when you are aligned with His will and purpose. Blessed is when you have gain spiritual gifts, like the fruit of the spirit. Blessed is when you know you are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Blessed is when you know you are connected to the vine. Blessed is when you dwell in the secret place of the Most High and are covered under the shadow of the Almighty wings. Things here on earth are temporal, but the things of God are eternal and cannot be taken away.
If you are being persecuted, insulted, falsely accused or all manner of evil is being spoken against you for His (Christ) names’ sake, you may find yourself with questions. What have I done? Where is this coming from? Did I wrong someone? You probably may not have done any of the above but simple because of whose you are, because you are a child of God, you can find these things happening to you. If this is happening to you, it’s an indication that you are right where you are supposed to be, in God, in right fellowship with God. It means you have been identified with Christ, the One who gave His life for you. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Philippians 3:10 KJV.
There is no need to worry, fear or even feel bad about what you are experiencing. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. John 15:19-21 KJV
Be glad and exceedingly joyful, for your reward in heaven is great [absolutely inexhaustible]; for in this same way, they persecuted the prophets who were before you, Matthew 5:12. AMP. Not only the prophets, but Christ himself faced the same things. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world, John 16:33 KJV.
So, remember, when you are persecuted, insulted, falsely accused or you are evil spoken of, for the sake of Jesus Christ, do as the scripture say, rejoice and be exceedingly glad for you have been identified with Christ and a great reward awaits you!
